Key West's urgent care clinics take good care of illness and many everyday injuries, and the emergency room handles the serious ones. When the problem is a bone, joint, muscle, tendon, or ligament, Key West Concierge Orthopedics is the orthopedic office that offers same-day appointments, walk-ins Monday through Thursday, and digital X-ray, fluoroscopy, and musculoskeletal ultrasound on site.
To be seen today, contact Key West Concierge Orthopedics to request an appointment, or call or text (305) 707-8484. The office is at 1111 12th Street, Suite 108, in Key West, open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Urgent Care, the Emergency Room, or an Orthopedic Office: Choosing the Right Door in Key West
Illness. Fever, flu, sore throat, ear pain, stomach pain, or urinary symptoms are what Key West's urgent care clinics and primary care doctors do well. That is the right door, and we will happily point you there.
A bone or joint injury. A sprain, a possible fracture, a twisted knee, or a shoulder that stopped working can be helped at an orthopedic office. Walk in Monday through Thursday, or request a same-day or next-day visit, and most injuries are examined and imaged in one trip. If an urgent care or the emergency room has already seen you, bring your X-ray and we will take it from there.
An emergency. A bone that looks out of place or has broken the skin, a cold, pale, or numb limb, heavy bleeding, chest pain, or trouble breathing means the emergency room at Lower Keys Medical Center or a call to 911. The full list is in the emergency section below.
Clinicians: urgent care and emergency room teams are welcome to call or text (305) 707-8484 to send a patient. We will make room the same day.
Injuries We See the Same Day
Ankle sprains and ankle injuries, wrist and hand injuries after a fall, knee injuries after a twist or a pop, shoulder injuries, muscle strains, and possible fractures all belong here. Foot and ankle injuries are one of the most common reasons people come in, often after a slip on a dock, a wet deck, or an uneven sidewalk. So is every kind of sports injury in Key West: pickleball, boating, diving, fishing, and gym injuries included.
If you fell, twisted, collided, or felt a pop, and the area now hurts, swells, bruises, or will not take your weight, you do not need to guess how serious it is. A focused exam and imaging can usually answer that in one visit. When a possible broken bone is the worry, our fracture care in Key West article explains what to watch for.
Walk-In Visits for Orthopedic Injuries
If you searched for an ortho injury walk in clinic or a walk-in orthopedic clinic near you, this is that visit. Walk-ins are accepted Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Fridays are by appointment. Calling or texting (305) 707-8484 ahead is preferred, not required, so the team can have a room and imaging ready when you arrive.
Same-day appointments are usually available, and next-day appointments are the norm when the schedule is full. Getting a bone or joint injury looked at should not require a long drive up the Keys or a weeks-long wait to learn what is wrong.
Digital X-Ray, Fluoroscopy, and Ultrasound On Site
Injury care works best when imaging happens during the same visit. Digital X-ray shows bone and helps rule a fracture in or out. You can read more about X-ray in Key West. Fluoroscopy is a live, moving X-ray that lets Dr. Pirozzolo watch a joint as it moves and guide certain procedures with precision. Musculoskeletal ultrasound shows tendons, ligaments, and fluid in real time, which a plain X-ray cannot do.
Having all three on site means most injuries are imaged on the spot, without a second location or a second appointment.
Injury Care and Sports Medicine in One Visit
Dr. Jason Pirozzolo is fellowship trained and board certified in sports medicine, and the practice focuses on nonsurgical orthopedics. That changes what a same-day visit gives you. The goal is bigger than finding out whether something is broken. You leave with a working diagnosis when possible, a plan for the next two weeks, and a path back to the court, the boat, the gym, or work. You can review all Key West Concierge Orthopedics services before you come in.
When to Go to the Emergency Room Instead
Some injuries should skip the office and go straight to the emergency room. Call 911 or go to the ER for a bone that looks out of place or has broken the skin, a limb that is cold, pale, or numb, heavy bleeding, a head, neck, or back injury with weakness or numbness, chest pain, trouble breathing, or any loss of consciousness. An emergency room is the right place for those, and this office is not.
What Belongs Elsewhere
Key West Concierge Orthopedics does not treat illness. Fever, flu, sore throat, ear pain, stomach pain, urinary symptoms, and other illness are better served by Key West's urgent care clinics or your primary care doctor, and we are glad they are here for that. We focus on musculoskeletal injuries, which means bones, joints, muscles, tendons, and ligaments. That narrow focus is deliberate. It is what allows most injuries to be examined, imaged, and given a plan in a single visit.
Hurt While Visiting the Florida Keys?
Vacation injuries are common here. Wet boat decks, dive ladders, scooters, flip flops on uneven sidewalks, and first-time pickleball games account for many of them. You do not have to spend a day of your trip in a waiting room or fly home without answers. A same-day evaluation, imaging if needed, and a written plan you can hand to your doctor at home can usually happen in one visit. That applies whether you live in Key West, Stock Island, Big Pine Key, or anywhere in the Lower Keys, or you are only on the island for the week.
Questions Patients Ask About Injury Care in Key West
Do I need to go to an urgent care first?
No, but it is fine if you do. If an urgent care or the emergency room has already seen you, bring your X-ray and we will take it from there. If you would rather come straight to us for a bone, joint, muscle, tendon, or ligament injury, walk in Monday through Thursday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, at 1111 12th Street, Suite 108. Fridays are by appointment.
Can I get an X-ray the same day?
Digital X-ray, fluoroscopy, and musculoskeletal ultrasound are on site, so when the exam calls for imaging it usually happens during the same visit.
Do I need a referral?
No. You do not need a referral to be seen for an injury. Call or text (305) 707-8484, request an appointment online, or walk in Monday through Thursday.
I am visiting Key West and got hurt. Can you see me?
Yes. Visitors are seen the same way residents are: an exam, imaging if needed, and a written plan you can hand to your doctor at home. Call ahead if you can so the team can have a room ready.
When to Come In
If an injury is swelling, bruising, unstable, weak, or painful enough to change how you walk, lift, or sleep, do not wait weeks to find out why. Contact Key West Concierge Orthopedics to request a same-day or next-day appointment, or call or text (305) 707-8484. Walk-ins are accepted Monday through Thursday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Fridays are by appointment.
